Building the confidence to go online
THE CHALLENGE
The Parramatta Nepean Presbytery needed to build the capacity of their congregations to go online and connect in new ways. But many people were unsure about how to use digital technologies and how they could help them connect online.
Over 80 people were mentored and upskilled.
Sometimes all you need is someone to walk beside you, so you can gain the confidence to try new things.
WHAT WE DID
With the help of a Be Connected Grant, we worked with the Parramatta Nepean Presbytery to mentor and upskill over 80 people. We broke things down to the basics, taking a step-by-step approach to build their digital literacy and confidence to go online. The most important thing was to take an individual approach to teaching and mentoring, allowing people to gain confidence and learn at their own pace. We found that once they got started, they were eager to walk alongside other members in their community to share their newly acquired digital skills.
The Signal Box found this to be an incredibly rewarding and humbling experience.
